"Having
Fun and Finding a Market For Your Book"
No
Matter What Your Subject, Even Dolphins Re-engineered by Aliens,
There's an Audience Waiting For You
Tom Brown tried to "become" a dolphin,
think like a dolphin. Although this CWC Marin board member has
a B.A. and a master's degree (public policy) from U.C. Berkeley,
he is selfeducated about whales and dolphins.
That didn't stop him from writing a trilogy about
them called The Dolphins' View, using the pen name of Mookeeo,
a lead character with a fun-loving "dolphinality" who
encounter aliens from another galaxy and tries to save all dolphins
in distress.
That also hasn't stopped him from determinedly
hunting down readers wherever he can find them for his lively
tales—and learning valuable lessons about book marketing
along the way that can offer guidance to each of us.
Tom/Mookeeo steps to the podium for our July meeting
to share both his publishing and dolphin adventures.
Tom stepped in to fill a sudden program vacancy
and did his usual outstanding job. He has since resigned membership
on the CWC Marin board and left us—to be closer to family
in New Jersey.
We wish him nothing but smooth seas and clear
waters.
