Robert Pimm

Robert Pimm's knowledge of legal literary issues is impressive. For more than an hour, Bob shared his knowledge of the ups and downs of the book publishing. In addition to discussion, he gave each attendee charts of the considerations necessary to ensure a solid relationship and contract with agents and publishers, and a sample book publishing contract. His scope is so vast and he was so well-received that he has been invited to present a seminar on legal issues at the Marin Branch's annual conference, The Writers Way, held at the Marin Headlands near Sausalito on October 4, 2003. We are pleased that he accepted so that all of our members and the general public will have a chance to learn how to negotiate and when an attorney is necessary to the process.

Literary Attorney Robert Pimm has more than 15 years experience in the book industry with extensive knowledge of book retailing, distribution, small press publishing, and literary agency.

Bob has worked with Barnes & Noble, Ingram, small publishers and independent booksellers. He has written extensively on industry topics, including new technologies and the eBook industry.

He co-authored How to Open a Bookstore: The Essential Planning Guide, and regularly contributes to industry journals. He will talk about copyright and legal issues. Visit his website at www.RGPimm.com.
